About Me

My mom taught me to sew & use her sewing machine when I was all of 8 years old. Since then, I have continued to sew, making not only clothes for myself, but home dec items as well (IE: curtains, pillows, wall hangings, etc.). In 2016, I had just moved to a new town, and had no friends outside of work. So, I decided I was going to teach myself to quilt, and joined one of the 2 local quilting guilds. I later also joined the 2nd guild in order to be able to expand my quilty friends, as well as my knowledge base. Since 2016, I have designed several quilts on my own, and brought them to completion, in terms of piecing or applique', creating the "quilt sandwich", and for the most part do my own quilting on my home sewing machine (aka, "domestic" machine) At this point, being on a fixed income, I have chosen to pursue both making quilted items for sale, as well as investigating the possibility of teaching others to sew and/or quilt. In addition to my Nursing degree, I also have a Bachelor's degree in Adult Education, and have taught co-workers in previous employment situations. At one time, I also served as the Teaching Assistant to an Instructor with what is now called University of Maryland, Global Campus, for a total of 3 semesters. Additionally, I am happy to mentor/tutor Nursing students who might be having some difficulties with their clinical studies.
