About Me

I am a violinist and educator based in New York City. With 9+ years of 1-on-1 teaching experience, I have the skills to transform every student into an artist. I specialize in teaching students of all ages, from youngsters of 3 to teenagers to adult learners. My lessons are personalized to the interests and needs of individual students: we'll be playing the kind of music YOU like, whether that's classical, rock, fiddle, pop, or anything in between. Of course, there are also technical standards like scales and etudes that we study to boost technique. For those students interested, I am Suzuki Certified and incorporate elements of the method with children and youths. For all students, we will make a plan on how to elevate your playing to the next level. I teach online or at students' homes in Manhattan and surrounding areas. Connor Madsen's Bio: A seasoned violinist and dedicated educator, Connor Madsen was born and raised in Salt Lake City where he was an active member of several local ensembles such as the Salt Lake Symphony and Great Basin Baroque. His career has been marked by notable achievements including winning 3rd Prize in the 2019 ENKOR International Chamber Music Competition and the Chicago College of Performing Arts Award, which afforded him the privilege of performing as a soloist with their orchestra. Connor holds advanced degrees from the University of Utah and Roosevelt University, where he had the honor of studying under the guidance of renowned mentors Almita Vamos, Liba Shacht, Ralph Matson, and Dr. Kasia Sokol-Borup. With over nine years of teaching experience, he has shared his expertise at numerous institutions including Music House School of Performing Arts and the Merit School of Music. Currently, Connor lives in New York City where he continues to inspire and educate the next generation of musicians. In his spare time, he enjoys jogging, video games, and fantasy novels.
