About Me

First and foremost, I'm a dog lover! My love of dogs started at 5 years old when my family welcomed a Beagle Puppy in to our lives. Fast forward MANY years later when I started volunteering with a local animal shelter as a dog walker. My volunteer time introduced me to opportunites to meet other dog lovers and, more importantly, local dog trainers. I began working for a local trainer, welcomed a high-drive, working-line Belgian Malinois into my life and loved all of the challenges and learning that came from this opportunity. While learning about my own dog, I was also learning and shadowing with trainers who were conducting group obedience classes. I enjoyed group classes but always wished I had more time during class to work one-on-one with training clients. Additionally, I have continued working with local rescues and shelters to foster dogs who needed evaluation and training to be succesfully adopted and find their forever home. Between the continued fostering and assistance in group-class teaching, I've developed many skills and look forward to working with people to help them successfully build a long-lasting and rewarding relationship with their dog. I now have that opportunity! I'm most exciting about helping YOU and YOUR DOG with what you are looking to achieve! I will often still recommend group classes, however much of the basics around getting an obedient dog can be taught online in a forum like this. I look forward to discussing your needs and helping you work to see the potential you and your dog can achieve. Some of the skills I've learned include: Training Program Development: Skilled in designing customized training programs to address specific behavioral issues and enhance obedience. Canine Communication: Proficient in understanding and interpreting canine body language, facilitating effective communication between dogs and owners. Obedience Training: Expertise in teaching basic and advanced obedience commands, ensuring dogs are well-behaved in various environments. Problem Solving: Adept at identifying and addressing behavioral challenges, providing practical solutions for both common and complex issues. Breed-specific Knowledge: In-depth understanding of different dog breeds, tailoring training methods to suit individual breed characteristics and tendencies. Group Classes: Proficient in conducting group training classes, fostering a positive learning environment for both dogs and their owners. Puppy Training: Specialized expertise in puppy training, focusing on socialization, basic commands, and early behavior development. Client Education: Skilled in educating dog owners on effective training techniques, promoting a strong bond and understanding between owners and their pets. Problem Behavior Management: Ability to address and manage issues such as aggression, fear, and separation anxiety through strategic training approaches.
